Satay (sate) A Malaysian Malay Delicacy

No doubt. Here in Malaysia, every where you go you are bound to see a Satay (sate) stall on the side of the road.

When you ask the locals, where to find the best satay here in Malaysia. Most will probably recommend you to the city of Kajang for the best satay.

One of the best we can recommended is Satay Kajang Rono. The meat is thick and with some fatty parts to make it juicy. And also the way there grill it is a bit to the charred side. That really enhance the aroma of burnt meat.

Another important key of a good satay is no doubt the sauce. One of the key factor for a good satay. And at Rono, there are no execptions.

You got the choice of chicken, beef, lamb and some place even serve rabbit meat. Pair it with a glass of "Teh O Ice Limau" and you will have a wonderful memorable satay meal. Here at Rono, they also serve Malay fried food like fried rice, fried noodles, tom yams and many more.

Don't forget to try out Rono the next time you are here in Malaysia.

Cheers.....

Couple Vacation Photography Malaysia - by Flame Photography Studio

Just to share with you lovely people out there about our Personal Vacation Photography that we did recently. This time, was a couple. And they requested for a casual romantic photography session around iconic places in Kuala Lumpur. No problem and we planned their photography session accordingly.

A lovely couple all the way from Mauritius.

Couple portrait photo session at Petronas Twin Tower (KLCC)

Next we went to the iconic Merdeka Square (Dataran Merdeka) where Malaysian celebrated their independence day.

Included in the our photography spot itinerary is to visit Petaling Street for a street photography style couple portraits and a more casual photography session. That is the first time they tested the "Air Mata Kucing" drink which is "Longan Water". Nonetheless they loved it. Cold and refreshing.

Strolling along Petaling Streets. Got tons of great natural casual shots here along the way.

It wont be complete without some souvenir shopping.  Kuala Lumpur themed Key Chain or Fridge Magnets at 5 for RM20.00

Overall it was an enjoyable photography session. Weather was good and things was smooth. We introduced our clients to use Grab Car apps here in Kuala Lumpur to get around the city. There was one point that the couple was hungry and we tried to get them to try our "Nasi Lemak" which is our local favorite food. But unfortunately it was the month of ramathan and all of the Malay shops that usually sells good "Nasi Lemak" was closed. Too bad.

How about you? Are you interested to have a photography session here in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia? Do write to us for a chat at:

Its Durian Season again here in Malaysia

During this Durian season here in Malaysia. You can't help but notice the numerous durian stall scattering around especially along the side of the roads.

These stalls sell various types of durians from "kampung durain" (Village Durian) to the D24 and also to the extremely expensive and in my oppinion, over rated Musang King durian.

The most economical ones are those kampung durains. Price from RM15 for 2 small ones to around RM30 to 2 big ones. Well, it doesn't mean that those cheap durians will be crap. Not most of them. In fact, if you are lucky, you can find some good ones. And usually when they say kampung duraisn, it imply means that it is not identified and grows wildly in the jungle.

What to look for when trying our your first durian during you visit here in Malaysia.

The main thing you should do first is to identify the type of durian and also the price per kilo or per fruit. Be aware that durians can cost about RM80 to RM180 per kilo depending on the type and also depending on whether the seller wants to suck a quick cash from you.

We recommend getting something like the D24 durian at around RM15 to RM28 per kilo depenfing on vendor and supply. The D24 is one of the most popular among durians for its not so hefty price. You can also try those cheap 2 for RM20 or 3 for RM20 typr of Kampung Durians. The only thing about kampung durian is that you are playing by luck. Some taste sweet and some bitter. Some even taste exactly like whisky. And if you are lucky, you will get it with all those flavors combined.

Or, if you want the best, according to the vendors. You can go for the Musang King Durian at around RM80 to RM120 per kilo depending on vendors. Do note that an average durian size will be around 1+ kilo.

After you have decided on which type of durian you fancy, it is highly recommended that you ask the vendor to cut open the fruit and you need to poke inner fruit with your finger and what you want is a mushy creamy texture and not a hard and dry texture. Reject it if you come across one that is dry and hard.

Its also highly recommend to eat it on the spot in the stall. Most stall prepare some tables and chairs for customers to enjoy it there. Note that most of the hotels and indoor venues does not allow durians.

That's it. These are the few tips that we can think of for your durian eating experience during your visit here in Malaysia.

Thanks for your time and happy holidays.....

Things you should know about Nasi Lemak here in Malaysia

Nasi Lemak is no doubt one of the most well known Malaysia food that one must try. There are different types and version of the Nasi Lemak but more unless the presentation, is almost the same.

Usually the most basic nasi lemak or nasi lemak biasa in Malay is served with sambal, hard boiled egg, fried anchovies (Ikan Biulis in Malay) and fried peanuts, and cucumber all wrapped in a sheet of banana leaf.

^ Plain Nasi Lemak or Basic Nasi Lemak (Nasi Lemak Biasa)

Then you have a choice of adding fried chicken, sambal squid (Sambal Sotong in Malays), Rendang beef or lamb, curry chicken, fried fish and others.

^ Nyonya Style Nasi Lemak with curry chicken

^ Not sure what exactly but seem to be Chinese Style Nasi Lemak with Rendang Chicken

^ Johor style Nasi Lemak with fried chicken drum stick and sweet sambal.

Different places will will have their own style and taste. Especially the sambal. Some place will tend to make it sweet and spicy. Some will be more on the sour side. And if you fancy wild boar curry, you will be lucky to find it here at Dataran C180 Cheras Balakong. Only available on weekends.
